About the festival

A few laughs, a few drinks and all in the name of charity. This year represents the 29th Chester Charity Beer Festival and we hope everyone enjoys themselves and appreciates the great live music and fantastic variety of beers, ciders, perries and thanks to popular demand a selection of wines.

When the festival was first held in 1989, the original organisers Dave Challinor, Clark Tilling and Mike Stuart, who still help the festival greatly today, hoped they could turn a small profit which they would donate to local charities. That ethos remains today and the aim of community, fun and charity continues. The Chester Charity Beer Festival is an opportunity for people to meet and socialise for a good cause and is a legacy which the Chester Grosvenor 76 Round Table and Chester Grosvenor 41 club are very proud of.

A message from our chairman

“A warm welcome to this year’s Chester Charity Beer Festival. Last year we raised £13,000 which will be donated to local charities and good causes and over the festival’s 27 years over £220,000 has been raised and donated locally. So there’s your incentive to buy another round!

I would like to thank all of our sponsors, volunteers, bands and breweries for their help and continued support. All that’s left for me to say is drink, dance, be merry and make tomorrow’s headache worthwhile!”

Chris Hughes
Chair of Chester Grosvenor 76 Round Table
